Unit 2: Music – a part of Life

This unit is about different styles of music that we like and listen to. It focuses on the influence of African-American culture on our music, on the lives of some musicians and on the instruments they play.

In this unit you’re going to …

• read about two African-American musicians
• talk about the music you like
• create a fact file about one of your favourite bands or musicians
• listen to some musicians talking about their music and their instruments
• write about some events in your past

Language focus: present simple, adverbs of frequency (always, sometimes, etc.), past simple, talking about what you like and don’t like doing
